🚀 Creating ETA Change Notifications Automation
🚀 Creating ETA Change Notifications Automation
To ensure you stay updated on any delays or early arrivals of your shipments, you can create an ETA change notification automation. This automation will set a flag on your shipments or containers whenever there is a change in the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) that exceeds a defined threshold. Follow these steps to set up this automation:
Step 1: 📌 Create a Flag
- Access the Automation Menu: Start by navigating to the menu bar and clicking on the "Automations" icon.
- Choose "Flags": On the bottom of the automation page, you will find two tabs: "Overview" and "Flags." Click on "Flags" to access flag-related settings.
- Create a New Flag: Click the "Create Flag" button. This action will add a new flag to the list.
- Rename the Flag: Change the name of this flag to something like "ETA Changed."
Step 2: ⚙️ Create the Automation
- Go Back to Overview: Return to the overview of the automations by navigating back to the automation menu.
- Create a New Automation: Click the "Create Automation" button in the upper right corner. A new automation will be created, which will initially be empty.
- Add the First Step: The first step in your automation is to set up a trigger. Click the "Add Step" button to begin.
- Select the Trigger: Choose the trigger type that detects changes in a certain milestone. Look for the "Milestone Change" trigger, which should be near the bottom of the list.
- Configure the Trigger: After selecting the "Milestone Change" trigger, you can further customize it. Select the trigger type:
- Pre-notice: Trigger before something happens.
- Notice: Trigger whenever something has just happened.
- Change: Trigger when there is a change in a certain milestone in the future.
- Missing: Trigger when a milestone that was expected to happen has not occurred.
- Choose the Milestone: Select "Change" as the trigger type and specify the milestone you want to monitor for changes. For an ETA change at the final Port of Discharge (POD), choose "Vessel Arrival in Final POD."
- Set Threshold: Define the amount of hours the new ETA must differ from the previously known one to trigger this milestone change. For instance, select "Enter Time in Hours" and set it to 48 hours, which means the trigger will activate for ETA changes exceeding 48 hours (two days).
- Monitor Vessel Changes (Optional): You can also choose to monitor vessel changes alongside ETA changes, even if there is no ETA change.
Step 3: 🏗️ Add the Flag to Shipments or Containers
- Add the Flag Action: To add a flag to your shipments or containers, click the "Add Step" button in your automation.
- Select "Set Flag for Container": Choose the "Set Flag for Container" action.
- Choose the Flag: Select the flag you created earlier, which you named "ETA Changed."
Step 4: 🔌 Enable the Automation
- Activate the Automation: In the upper right corner, enable the automation. This step ensures that the system will now monitor all ETA changes or milestone changes and set the flag on shipments or containers where these events occur.
That's it! You've successfully set up an ETA change notification automation to keep track of your shipments and containers. This automation will help you stay informed about any significant ETA changes or milestones, allowing for more efficient management of your logistics.
